Chelsea Clinches Domestic Treble with 3-0 Win Over Man United

Chelsea Women's team secures a domestic treble with a 3-0 win over Manchester United in the Women's FA Cup final, thanks to Sandy Baltimore's two goals.

Chelsea Women's team secured a historic domestic treble under French coach Sonia Bompastor, winning the Women's FA Cup final 3-0 against Manchester United at Wembley Stadium. Sandy Baltimore was instrumental in the victory, scoring twice and setting up Catarina Macario for the second goal. This triumph marks a remarkable achievement for Bompastor in her first season at the helm, solidifying Chelsea's dominance in women's English football.

Sandy Baltimore opened the scoring for Chelsea from the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time, giving her team an early advantage. Catarina Macario then headed in Baltimore's free-kick in the 84th minute, effectively putting the result beyond doubt. Baltimore sealed the win in the first minute of added time, turning Lisa Naalsund before lashing the ball home from close range to complete a 3-0 victory over Manchester United, last season's FA Cup winners.

Chelsea's victory in the Women's FA Cup final completed a domestic treble, following their Women's Super League title and League Cup wins. The Blues had already made history by becoming the first team to remain unbeaten in a 22-game Women's Super League season, securing their sixth successive domestic league title. However, their ambitions for a quadruple were dashed when they were eliminated by Barcelona in the Women's Champions League semi-finals, losing 8-2 on aggregate. Despite their domestic success, Chelsea has yet to claim the top European prize.

Sonia Bompastor's first season in charge has been a remarkable success, following the departure of long-serving manager Emma Hayes, who left to take the helm of the United States women's national team. Under Bompastor's leadership, Chelsea has continued to dominate English women's football, but the team's inability to conquer Europe remains a challenge.

The Women's FA Cup final at Wembley Stadium saw Chelsea dominate the first half against Manchester United, but they struggled to break through the United defense. As the game approached halftime, it seemed possible that the teams would head into the break goalless.

However, Chelsea were awarded a penalty after Celin Bizet committed a foul on Erin Cuthbert, stepping into the Scotland midfielder and bringing her down. This pivotal moment would change the course of the game.

A penalty was swiftly awarded, and Sandy Baltimore stepped up to take it. Despite being subjected to distractions from the large contingent of Manchester United fans behind the goal, Baltimore remained composed and coolly beat goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce from the spot to give Chelsea the lead.

Manchester United showed improvement in the second half and created some promising chances to level the score. However, despite the introduction of England star Ella Toone as a substitute, they couldn't manage to find the back of the net. The Cup holders' hopes of a comeback were ultimately dashed by two late goals from Catarina Macario and Sandy Baltimore, sealing Chelsea's 3-0 victory.
