Serie A: Parma's Lead Squelled - Lazio's Pedro Scores Twice in Comeback

Lazio staged an incredible comeback against Parma, with Pedro scoring twice to level the match 2-2. Get the highlights.

Pedro scored a quickfire brace to help Lazio fight back from 2-0 down and earn a point against Parma. However, the result may hinder Lazio's chances of securing a European spot.

Lazio had bounced back from their Europa League quarter-final exit with a 2-0 win over Genoa, despite Reda Belahyane's red card and subsequent ban. The team has faced defensive challenges due to injuries to Nuno Tavares, Manuel Lazzari, and Patric.

Parma's season took a turn for the better under Cristian Chivu, culminating in a win over Juventus that lifted them out of the relegation zone. However, Parma's injury list continues to grow, with several key players sidelined, including Alessandro Vogliacco, Adrian Bernabé, and others.

The match began with a shocking start for Lazio as Parma took the lead within three minutes. Emanuele Valeri's low cross from the left found Jacob Ondrejka with ample space in the penalty area, allowing him to control the ball and score with a precise shot into the far corner.

Lazio struggled to create clear chances, with Taty Castellanos' shot being saved by Zion Suzuki, while Nicolò Rovella's effort from the edge of the area lacked precision. Castellanos was denied a goal just before halftime when he was flagged for offside after sliding onto a through ball from Mario Gila and getting the ball in the net.

Boulaye Dia's shot went high and wide of the target. However, Parma quickly extended their lead just seconds into the second half. Jacob Ondrejka's attempted through ball was intercepted, but it bounced back to him, allowing him to score with a beautifully curled shot from the edge of the box into the top corner.

Parma nearly scored again a few minutes later when Mateo Pellegrino sprang the offside trap and found himself clear on goal. However, Christos Mandas made a crucial one-handed save to deny Pellegrino's shot and keep the score at 2-0.

Pedro attempted to create an opportunity with a dinked pass over the top, but Luca Pellegrini's stretch only resulted in him prodding the ball into the arms of Zion Suzuki.

Lazio continued to press, with Gustav Isaksen testing Suzuki from close range with a shot using the outside of his boot. Meanwhile, Christos Mandas made another crucial save, diving to push Dennis Man's strike over the bar with his fingertips.

Matias Vecino delivered a low, hard ball across the box from the right, but Tijjani Noslin was narrowly missed hitting the target with a potential redirection from just five yards out.

Lazio eventually pulled one back through a combination of substitutes. Matias Vecino's long cross found Tijjani Noslin, whose acrobatic volley was well saved by Zion Suzuki. However, Pedro pounced on the rebound. The comeback was completed in just five minutes as Lazio went from 0-2 to 2-2. Pedro sealed the comeback with a looping header into the far top corner from a Luca Pellegrini cross.

Lazio's push forward left them exposed at the back, allowing Parma to launch a counter-attack. Zion Suzuki made a great save to push a scorcher from Mattéo Guendouzi around the post. Meanwhile, Dennis Man had a chance on the counter, shrugging off the last defender, but his shot went wide.

Alessio Romagnoli's penalty appeals were ignored after a confrontation with a Parma player, with both the referee and VAR dismissing the claims.

The match was intense until the final whistle, and Lazio ultimately left the field disappointed. Despite being 2-0 down until the 78th minute, they managed to level the score. However, the point wasn't enough, as a win would have seen them overtake Bologna into fifth place. Instead, Roma's concurrent result saw them tied on points in sixth, but Lazio dropped to seventh due to an inferior head-to-head record with their rivals.
