Serie A: Napoli's Winning Streak Halted by Bologna in 1-1 Draw
Napoli's quest for a seventh consecutive win is put on hold as they draw 1-1 with Bologna, with Frank Anguissa's early goal cancelled out by Dan Ndoye's remarkable equalizer.
Napoli failed to capitalize on the opportunity to close the gap at the top of the Serie A standings, settling for a 1-1 draw against Bologna. Frank Anguissa's impressive first-half goal was matched by Dan Ndoye's equalizer, allowing Bologna to leapfrog Juventus back into the UEFA Champions League spots. The hosts were on a quest for their seventh consecutive win, a feat they last achieved in 1964, but ultimately fell short.
Anguissa's goal came in the 18th minute, as he showcased his skill and strength by beating Sam Beukema and calmly rounding Łukasz Skorupski to score a beautiful individual effort. This was the first significant chance of the night, and it also marked the last involvement for Bologna's goalkeeper Skorupski, who went off injured shortly after the goal, leaving his team to play with a makeshift goalkeeper for the remainder of the match.
Federico Ravaglia, replacing the injured Łukasz Skorupski, quickly proved himself to be a capable substitute, making a series of impressive saves to deny Napoli. He pushed a Scott McTominay shot around the post and then dashed off his line to make a spectacular stop at the feet of Matteo Politano. Meanwhile, Vincenzo Italiano's team struggled to replicate the attacking flair they had displayed in their previous home game, a 5-0 thrashing of Lazio.
Napoli's first-half efforts were lackluster, with their sole shot on target being a tame Jens Odgaard header that Simone Scuffet comfortably saved. Michel Aebischer's effort in injury time was also off target. However, the team showed more life after the break, with Thijs Dallinga forcing Ravaglia into another save and Riccardo Orsolini firing a fizzing, angled shot over the far corner. The equalizer Bologna deserved arrived in dramatic fashion, as Jens Odgaard cut back a cross to Dan Ndoye, who flicked home a remarkable effort with his back to goal, the ball bouncing in off the crossbar.

Given their impressive record of rescuing points from losing positions in Serie A this season, it was no surprise that Bologna responded to Napoli's early goal. However, what was shocking was Napoli's ineffectiveness, as they struggled to even advance beyond their own half of the field. As the match drew to a close, Napoli were hanging on, with Simone Scuffet saving a swinging free-kick from Juan Miranda and substitute Santiago Castro inexplicably missing a sitter in the 90th minute, skewing a rebound wide from inches out after Emil Holm's initial header had been superbly saved.

The result has significant implications for both teams, with Bologna on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League in back-to-back seasons for the first time in their history. Meanwhile, Napoli's struggles away from home continue, with the team winless in five matches. A last-gasp Giacomo Raspadori strike was superbly saved after deflecting off Mathías Olivera's back, ultimately proving too little, too late for Napoli.
