Bologna extended their winning streak to five matches with a narrow 1-0 victory over relegation-threatened Venezia in Serie A. This win marked a significant milestone for Bologna, who continue to build momentum in the league.

Venezia's winless streak since Christmas persisted, with the team now having drawn seven and lost six matches in that period. Despite their desire to end this barren run, the hosts were forced to adopt a patient approach as Bologna controlled the early stages of the match. Riccardo Orsolini was a notable threat for Bologna, showcasing his pace and skill on the right side of the attack.

Despite Bologna's early dominance, Venezia goalkeeper Ionut Radu was not severely tested, and the hosts gradually began to gain a foothold in the game. Alessio Zerbin created the first genuine scoring opportunity, but his initial effort and subsequent follow-up were blocked by Bologna's resilient defense.

Zerbin then attempted to provide a scoring chance for his teammate, delivering a deep free kick that found Jay Idzes. However, Idzes was off balance when making contact with the ball, and his header sailed off target. This missed opportunity almost proved costly, as Bologna immediately threatened to score from a corner. Sam Beukema found himself unmarked, but he failed to capitalize, heading the ball high over the crossbar, ensuring the first half ended goalless.

The visitors emerged from the halftime break with renewed energy, and their efforts were rewarded with the opening goal in the 49th minute. While Nicolo Cambiaghi provided the assist, the goal was largely due to Riccardo Orsolini's exceptional skill. He expertly volleyed a deep cross first-time, cushioning a precise side-footed effort back across Ionut Radu and into the top corner of the net.

Venezia manager Eusebio Di Francesco made a quadruple substitution after the hour mark in an attempt to turn the game around. The changes nearly had the desired effect, as Gianluca Busio curled a shot wide before John Yeboah's dinked effort was denied by Lukasz Skorupski, who made a crucial save to prevent the equalizer.

Despite Venezia's late surge, Bologna managed to weather the storm and regained control in the final moments. They ultimately held on for a hard-fought 1-0 victory, securing three vital points that keep their slim title hopes alive. Bologna remain in fourth place but have narrowed the gap to eight points behind Inter Milan.

The defeat has left Venezia's situation increasingly dire. They remain rooted to 19th place, five points adrift of safety, and have played one more game than the teams above them. The pressure is mounting on Eusebio Di Francesco's side to turn their season around and avoid relegation.
