Serie A: Fiorentina's Late Efforts Fall Short as AC Milan Salvages Point
AC Milan came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Fiorentina in a thrilling Serie A match, extending their home unbeaten run to 17 matches.
AC Milan staged an impressive second-half comeback to salvage a point in their Serie A match against ACF Fiorentina, extending their remarkable home record to just one defeat in their last 17 matches (W8, D8). Despite being nine points adrift of the top four in Serie A, the Rossoneri knew a strong start was crucial against Fiorentina. However, it was the visitors who made the perfect start, opening the scoring inside seven minutes when Malick Thiaw inadvertently bundled the ball into his own net from Albert Gudmundsson's pass across the six-yard box.
Milan's struggles continued just three minutes later as Moise Kean fired home from Dodo's cut-back, scoring his 17th league goal of the season and giving Fiorentina a 2-0 lead. Faced with a two-goal deficit, Milan's players looked to regroup and regain composure after a dismal opening quarter-hour. Although Dodo and Gudmundsson threatened to extend La Viola's lead, it was Milan who pulled one back midway through the first half. Tammy Abraham scored with a superb finish into the bottom corner, capitalizing on neat interplay with Christian Pulisic.
Milan's momentum carried into the second half, with the hosts coming out strong and creating several clear-cut chances. However, David de Gea stood firm in the visitors' goal, denying Tammy Abraham, Tijjani Reijnders, and Santiago Gimenez with a string of top-class saves. Despite Milan's pressure, Fiorentina's goalkeeper Mike Maignan had to remain alert, thwarting a low effort from Lucas Beltran.

The turning point came when Maignan's save from Beltran proved crucial, as Luka Jovic tucked a cool finish beyond De Gea just a minute later to level the score. The match remained frantic, with both teams creating chances in the final 25 minutes. Maignan denied Moise Kean from close range, while Theo Hernandez's powerful strike was repelled by De Gea. Fiorentina looked the more likely side to score a late winner, but their efforts were ultimately thwarted.

In the closing stages, Fiorentina thought they had snatched all three points when Dodo's well-taken volley was initially given, only for it to be ruled out for offside. The decision ultimately proved crucial, as neither team could find a winner in the final minutes. The draw meant Raffaele Palladino's side missed the chance to secure a head-to-head league double for the first time since and AC Milan extended their impressive home record to just one defeat in their last 17 matches (W8, D8).
