Fiorentina edged Atalanta 1-0, with Moise Kean's goal making the difference, as the hosts boosted their European ambitions and ended Atalanta's impressive away unbeaten streak.



Fiorentina secured a crucial victory over Atalanta, thanks to Moise Kean's opportunistic goal, capitalizing on a defensive error. This win boosts Fiorentina's morale, especially after their impressive 3-0 triumph over Juventus. However, they had to contend with the absence of Robin Gosens, who joined Andrea Colpani on the sidelines.


Atalanta, still reeling from their defeat to Inter that dashed their Scudetto hopes, had to navigate several key absences. Mateo Retegui recovered from a muscular issue to start, but Ederson was suspended, and Juan Cuadrado was only fit for the bench. Additionally, Stefan Posch, Odilon Kossounou, Giorgio Scalvini, and Gianluca Scamacca were all injured, while coach Gian Piero Gasperini served a touchline ban.




The match saw both teams create scoring opportunities. Moise Kean drilled a shot wide after dispossessing Marten de Roon in midfield. At the other end, Mateo Retegui's clever pass sent Davide Zappacosta down the left, but Ademola Lookman's tap-in was blocked by a desperate Luca Ranieri. Ranieri made another crucial intervention, intercepting a Raoul Bellanova assist intended for Lookman, and later charged down Charles De Ketelaere's strike after defensive efforts blocked off Retegui.


Fiorentina took the lead thanks to Moise Kean's impressive goal. Kean capitalized on Isak Hien's weak first touch inside the center circle and sprinted halfway up the pitch, beating Marco Carnesecchi with a precise angled drive.




Albert Gudmundsson attempted to score with a lob, but it sailed over the bar after Rolando Mandragora's pass. Later, Carnesecchi made a remarkable one-handed save to deny Fagioli's right-foot curler from the edge of the area, showcasing his impressive goalkeeping skills.


The match continued to see both teams create scoring opportunities. Nicolò Fagioli blocked Mario Pasalic's powerful shot, and Marco Carnesecchi was alert to clear the ball as Moise Kean pounced on another defensive error. Kean also had another chance, firing over the bar from a counter-attack led by Dodo.


Charles De Ketelaere's angled drive narrowly missed the far post, courtesy of a Pasalic assist. Fiorentina had a golden opportunity to double their lead in the 73rd minute, thanks to Lucas Beltran's inspired assist. However, twice Beltran's efforts were denied by Carnesecchi's desperate double save, as the goalkeeper managed to keep his team in the game.


Despite the missed opportunities, Fiorentina held on to secure a crucial victory, marking Atalanta's first away defeat in Serie A in seven months.
