Eredivisie Update: PSV Wins, AZ Draws, Title Race Heats Up

PSV closes the gap to Ajax to six points with a comeback win over FC Twente, while AZ extends its winless streak to seven matches with a draw against NAC Breda.

PSV has reduced the gap to leaders Ajax to six points after securing a win in Enschede against FC Twente. This opportunity arose following Ajax's surprising 4-0 loss to FC Utrecht, allowing PSV to close the distance with a victory.

PSV had a rocky start in the Grolsch Veste, with American right-back Richard Ledezma losing possession within the first minute. This error led to FC Twente's opening goal, as Naci Unuvar set up Ricky van Wolfswinkel for a quick strike. Despite this setback, PSV managed to overcome the deficit and secure the win.

PSV responded swiftly to FC Twente's opening goal, equalizing within ten minutes through Ivan Perisic, who skillfully finished a chance set up by Guus Til's classy first touch. Despite hitting the woodwork twice and having a goal-bound shot saved by Twente goalkeeper Lars Unnerstall, PSV struggled to find a second breakthrough in the first half.

PSV's sharp performance eventually paid off eight minutes after the break when Guus Til scored his tenth Eredivisie goal, set up by Perisic. Luuk de Jong sealed the win with a straightforward goal against his former team, completing PSV's comeback.

With this win, PSV closed the gap to Ajax to six points, setting up a crucial stretch run. Ajax will host Sparta Rotterdam this weekend, carrying a six-point lead with four games remaining.

AZ's Streak Continues

AZ extended their winless streak to seven matches, drawing 1-1 with NAC Breda in Alkmaar. The match saw AZ struggle to find their footing, ultimately relying on a late equalizer.

Leo Sauer gave NAC the lead in the second half with a well-taken goal from a corner. However, AZ managed to salvage a point thanks to Mexx Meerdink's stunning bicycle kick in the 96th minute. This result leaves AZ grappling with form issues ahead of the Conference League playoffs.
