Tottenham Boss Postecoglou Bemoans Lack of Penalties and 'Soft' Concession

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou expressed disappointment after his team's 2-0 defeat to Fulham, citing a 'soft goal' concession and a lack of penalty calls as key factors in the loss.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou acknowledged that his team's performance was subpar in their 2-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday. The hosts secured their victory with late goals from Rodrigo Muniz and Ryan Sessegnon.

Postecoglou expressed his disappointment with the outcome, stating, “It's a disappointing outcome. I thought up until they scored we were really on top of them.” He felt that Tottenham were in control of the game until Fulham's opening goal, which changed the momentum. “It was a tight game and we hadn't made a save at that point and they scored a really soft goal. Then the game got away from us. It's disappointing.”

Postecoglou also acknowledged that the match itself was not of high quality, saying, ”It wasn't a great game.” Despite this, he noted that Tottenham had opportunities to score, adding, “We had a couple of chances to score.”

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou shared his thoughts on a potential penalty claim for his team when they were trailing 1-0. While choosing not to criticize the officials directly, he hinted that the team's decision not to protest the call might have worked against them. “I'll leave that to the officials, but it does seem that the fact we don't carry on hurts us at times.”

Postecoglou acknowledged that the match against Fulham was a challenging one, with neither team creating many scoring opportunities. He noted that Tottenham had a promising chance when the game was still scoreless. “It was a difficult game. I don't think any team created too many openings. We probably had the best one at 0-0. Like I said, we conceded a soft goal that gave them the advantage.”

The Tottenham manager also discussed the team's strategy and the challenges they face in the remainder of the season. Postecoglou made several changes to the lineup for the Fulham match, hoping to gain an advantage. “We made a lot of changes today which I felt might help the team. It's our challenge between now and the end of the season. European football and league games.”
