Conte Says Napoli Must Learn from Mistakes to Revive Title Hopes

Napoli manager Antonio Conte has urged his team to maintain their belief in their Serie A title push, despite a recent downturn in form and a growing injury list. With nine games remaining in the season, Napoli trails Inter Milan by three points, but Conte remains determined to keep his team's title aspirations alive.
Speaking to reporters on Saturday, Conte emphasized that Napoli has every right to believe in their chances of winning the Scudetto. “We'd be mad not to believe at this stage - nine games left, three points off the top. With all our strengths and flaws, we're still there, in a position nobody expected, to be honest,” Conte said. He highlighted the team's hard work and dedication as a reason to remain optimistic about their title prospects. “It's our right to believe, after we give everything we've got and always leave the pitch with our shirts soaked in sweat.”
Conte also acknowledged that while only one team can win the Scudetto, the battle for Champions League places is still ongoing. However, he made it clear that Napoli's primary focus remains on securing first place. “Only one team can win the Scudetto, but the Champions League places are in the balance too. We must always look forward and are only focused on first place,” Conte stated, reiterating his team's commitment to their title ambitions.

Napoli's recent international break was marred by a series of unfortunate injuries to key players. Manager Antonio Conte provided an update on the team's injury situation, starting with Andre-Frank Anguissa, who suffered an adductor problem while on duty with Cameroon. “Andre-Frank Anguissa had an adductor problem with Cameroon, he had two training sessions with us and we're monitoring the situation carefully,” Conte said.
Conte also discussed the status of Noah Okafor, who experienced a similar adductor issue while representing Switzerland. “Noah Okafor (Switzerland) had a problem with his adductor too and was out for two days, he's a player we need to get back into shape, but he's struggling with that,” Conte explained. The Napoli manager confirmed that Brazilian winger David Neres has recovered from a hamstring injury and will be available for the match against AC Milan, while Italian Leonardo Spinazzola will miss out due to a knock.
Regarding Neres' availability, Conte stated, “Neres is fully recovered, he's made great progress and he will definitely play — maybe not from the start, but he'll feature for sure.” Napoli's recent form has been a concern, with the team winning only one of their last seven league matches. Conte believes that his team has deserved better results in recent weeks. “I think we deserved better in recent weeks than our results would suggest. Unconsciously, results do affect the mentality of the players, and that is a mistake,” Conte said.
Conte views this challenging period as an opportunity for growth and development. “It is a growth process, we need to recognise those moments we get wrong and work on them,” he emphasized, highlighting the importance of learning from mistakes and improving as a team.
