Real Madrid Stars Face UEFA Probe Over Celebrations

UEFA has launched an investigation into four Real Madrid players, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, over alleged 'indecent conduct' during their Champions League win.

The incident in question occurred during the Champions League last 16 win over Atletico Madrid, where Real Madrid won 4-2 on penalties after the match ended 2-2 on aggregate. UEFA's investigation will review the evidence, including video footage of the alleged incidents, to determine whether the players' conduct was indeed indecent.

UEFA has launched an investigation into four Real Madrid players, including Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Junior, over alleged “indecent conduct” during their Champions League last 16 win over Atletico Madrid. The four players, who also include defender Antonio Rudiger and midfielder Dani Ceballos, face potential punishment ahead of their quarter-final first leg clash at Arsenal on April 8th.

The investigation was confirmed by UEFA in a statement, which read: “A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector has been appointed to investigate allegations of indecent conduct by Real Madrid CF players.” This development comes after Real Madrid's win over Atletico Madrid, which has sparked controversy over the players' celebrations.

According to Spanish media reports, the Real Madrid players are being scrutinized by UEFA for their manner of celebration after the win. The reports suggest that the players' conduct during the celebrations may have crossed a line, prompting UEFA to launch an investigation.

Neither UEFA nor Real Madrid provided immediate comment when contacted by AFP.

Real Madrid, the reigning champions with a record 15 titles, secured a thrilling win over their rivals on March 12th. The match ended 2-2 on aggregate, with Madrid ultimately emerging victorious in the penalty shootout at Atletico's Metropolitano stadium.

The match was marred by controversy when Atletico forward Julian Alvarez had a penalty disallowed during the shootout. The decision sparked heated debate, with many questioning the ruling that Alvarez had touched the ball twice.
