Jonas Vingegaard will miss the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya due to a hand injury sustained during the Paris-Nice, dealing a blow to his Tour de France preparation.

Jonas Vingegaard's preparation for the Tour de France has suffered a setback due to a hand injury sustained during a crash at the Paris-Nice. The incident occurred on stage 5, forcing Vingegaard to abandon the race the following day.

As a result of the injury, Vingegaard's team, Team Visma Lease a Bike, has announced that he will not be participating in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya. This absence will deprive Vingegaard of valuable preparation and racing experience ahead of the Tour de France.

Jonas Vingegaard will not be participating in the Volta Ciclista a Catalunya with Team Visma | Lease a Bike, as he has not fully recovered from the hand sprain he sustained during the Paris-Nice. The team announced the news on X, confirming that Vingegaard will not be part of the seven-rider team competing in the event.

The Volta Ciclista a Catalunya was intended to serve as a key preparation race for Vingegaard ahead of the Tour de France, just like the Paris-Nice. However, with his withdrawal from the Catalan event, Vingegaard's revised schedule shows only one more race planned before the Tour de France in July: the Critérium du Dauphiné in June.
