According to UEFA's decision, Real Madrid's fans were found guilty of violating Article 14 of the disciplinary regulations, which prohibits “racism, other discriminatory behavior, and propaganda.” Notably, neither television footage nor journalists present at the match reported any incidents during Real Madrid's 3-1 victory over Manchester City.
As a result of the violation, Real Madrid has been fined 30,000 euros (£24,800) by UEFA. Furthermore, the club has been threatened with a partial closure of at least 500 adjacent seats at their home stadium, the Santiago Bernabeu, if similar incidents occur within the next two years.
It's worth noting that Real Madrid is not alone in facing this penalty. Several dozen national teams and clubs, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, are currently subject to the same suspended sanction for similar offenses.
