UCL: Brest Suffer Heaviest Defeat of Season as PSG Cruise into Last 16
Paris Saint-Germain cruised into the Champions League last 16 with a dominant 7-0 win over Brest, extending their unbeaten run to 32 games.
Paris Saint-Germain cruised into the UEFA Champions League round of 16 for the 13th consecutive season, thrashing Stade Brestois 7-0 in the second leg of their knockout phase playoff at the Parc des Princes. The dominant victory sealed a 10-0 aggregate win for PSG.
PSG had already established a comfortable 3-0 lead from the first leg and were eager to build on that advantage. Bradley Barcola came close to opening the scoring, but his shot sailed into the side netting after a fine run by Ousmane Dembele. Meanwhile, Stade Brestois sought to exploit any counter-attacking opportunities.
Stade Brestois nearly pulled a goal back against the run of play, with Pierre Lees-Melou's effort cleared off the line by Marquinhos. However, PSG's pressure eventually paid off in the 20th minute, as Bradley Barcola latched onto Fabian Ruiz's pinpoint long-range pass and slotted a clinical finish past Gregoire Coudert at the near post.
PSG took complete control of the match after Barcola's opening goal, with Luis Enrique's side showcasing their intensity and movement to leave Brest struggling to keep up. The hosts' dominance was rewarded with a second goal, courtesy of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia's first Champions League strike for PSG. Barcola played a crucial role, guiding a Joao Neves cut-back into Kvaratskhelia's path, allowing the Georgian to slide home at the far post.
The visitors' first half was a sobering experience, and their woes continued after the break. Gianluigi Donnarumma made a fine save to deny Pierre Lees-Melou, but Mama Balde failed to capitalize on the rebound, missing the target. This let-off was compounded when Fabian Ruiz shot wide three minutes into the second half, after being expertly set up by Ousmane Dembele.
Brest refused to give up, and Lees-Melou's strike cannoned off the post as they sought to reduce the deficit. However, PSG continued to assert their dominance, adding a third goal through Vitinha. Ruiz laid the ball off for the Portuguese midfielder, who unleashed a fine right-footed strike past Gregoire Coudert.
The scoring continued as substitute Desire Doue made an instant impact, finding the net within three minutes of entering the game. Goncalo Ramos played a pivotal role, expertly weaving his way past Brendan Chardonnet before laying the ball on a plate for Doue to execute a fine finish.
PSG showed no signs of relenting, and their merciless attack continued to punish Brest. The hosts added a fifth goal when Nuno Mendes tapped in Achraf Hakimi's inviting cross at the far post, further extending their lead.

Goncalo Ramos scored PSG's sixth goal, courtesy of a delicate finish beyond Gregoire Coudert. Desire Doue turned provider, setting up Ramos for a simple yet clinical finish that highlighted PSG's attacking prowess.
The hosts completed their demolition job with a seventh goal, as Senny Mayulu sealed Brest's fate with a close-range finish. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia provided the assist, teeing up Mayulu for a straightforward finish that capped off a resounding victory for PSG.
Brest's Champions League exit was a harsh one, with this 7-0 defeat marking their fourth loss to PSG this season, conceding at least three goals in each of those encounters. Meanwhile, PSG extended their longest unbeaten run against any opponent to 32 games (W24 D8), a testament to their dominance.
