England to Face Senegal and Wales in Friendly Matches
England will play friendly matches against Senegal and Wales, with Thomas Tuchel's team visiting Nottingham's City Ground and Wembley Stadium.
The Football Association has announced England's upcoming friendly matches, with the Three Lions set to face Senegal at Nottingham Forest's City Ground in June. This match will be followed by a highly anticipated encounter against Wales at Wembley Stadium in October.
These two friendlies complete England's schedule for 2025, with the team's primary focus being on qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The qualifying campaign will see England face Albania and Latvia at home next month, marking Thomas Tuchel's debut as the team's manager.
England's World Cup qualifying group also includes matches against Serbia and Andorra. The team will be seeking to build on their impressive performance in the Euro 2024 finals as they aim to secure a spot in the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted jointly by the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The City Ground, home of Nottingham Forest, is set to host England's senior men's team for the first time in over a century. The last time England played a competitive fixture at the City Ground was in March 1909, when they defeated Wales 2-0 in the Home Championship. This June, the stadium will welcome Senegal for a friendly match on June 10, while Wales will visit Wembley Stadium on October 9.
England manager Thomas Tuchel is looking forward to the challenges presented by these two friendly matches. “The games against Senegal and Wales will present good challenges for us against two very different opponents,” Tuchel said. He acknowledged that facing a strong African team like Senegal in Nottingham would be a unique experience, while the match against Wales at Wembley would be a thrilling derby encounter.

Tuchel also emphasized the importance of taking the England team to different parts of the country, allowing fans to experience live international football. “While I know Wembley is our home, I also understand the importance of taking the team around the country when we are able to and the opportunity to experience playing at a famous old English stadium such as the City Ground is one we can all look forward to,” he said.
