Manchester United's Harry Maguire Banned from Driving for Speeding

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been banned from driving for 56 days and fined £1052 after being caught speeding twice in three days.

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has been handed a 56-day driving ban and ordered to pay a fine of £1052 after being caught speeding on two separate occasions within a three-day period.

Maguire, 31, was caught on camera driving his Range Rover at 85mph in a 50mph zone on Wilmslow Road, near Manchester Airport, in March 2024. This incident led to the driving ban and fine imposed on the Manchester United player.

Harry Maguire pleaded guilty to the speeding offence on October 2nd, as revealed at Bolton Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. The court was informed that Maguire had accepted responsibility for his actions.

Representing Maguire in court, solicitor Gwyn Lewis acknowledged the severity of the offence, stating, “Of course, the speed is wholly excessive and I fully accept that.” The court also noted that, at the time of the March offence, Maguire already had three penalty points on his driving licence, stemming from an incident in 2021.

In a separate incident on March 7th, just two days after the initial speeding offense, Maguire was caught speeding again. As a result, he received three penalty points on his license.

Maguire's lawyer, Lewis, explained that his client had been offered a speed awareness course, but was unable to attend due to being abroad during the summer. Consequently, Maguire was fined £666, with an additional £120 in costs and a £266 surcharge, totaling £1052.
