Isaiah Thomas Takes First Step Towards NBA Return with G League Signing
Two-time NBA All-Star Isaiah Thomas has signed with the Salt Lake City Stars, the Utah Jazz's G League affiliate team, as he bids to revive his NBA career.
Thomas' NBA journey has been marked by both remarkable achievements and challenging setbacks. Notably, he became the first player in NBA history to be awarded the Rookie of the Month honor as the final pick of the NBA Draft, achieving this feat twice in February and April 2012. He went on to earn a spot on the All-NBA Second Team at the end of the season. During his time with the Boston Celtics, Thomas emerged as a league-wide star, averaging an impressive 19.0, 22.2, and 28.9 points per game over three consecutive seasons.

However, Thomas' career was severely impacted by injuries, particularly a hip injury sustained during his final season with the Celtics. This setback led to a significant decline in his performance, and he never regained his pre-injury form. Despite this, Thomas remains motivated and is determined to make a successful comeback. If the Utah Jazz were to sign him to an NBA contract, it would mark his 11th team in 13 seasons.
Thomas' signing with the Salt Lake City Stars is a crucial step in his bid to return to the NBA. Although he played only six games with the Phoenix Suns last season and didn't play at all during the 2022-2023 season, Thomas is focused on proving himself once again. With perseverance and hard work, he hopes to earn another opportunity to compete at the highest level and add another chapter to his remarkable NBA story.
