Frankfurt Coast to 2-0 Victory Over Ferencvaros to Maintain Perfect Europa League Record
Eintracht Frankfurt maintained their perfect Europa League record with a 2-0 victory over Ferencvaros, thanks to a stunning strike from Can Uzun.
Eintracht Frankfurt continued their impressive start to 2025, maintaining their perfect record with a 2-0 victory over Ferencvaros in the UEFA Europa League. The win keeps Frankfurt on track to potentially lift the trophy for the second time in four seasons.
Ferencvaros goalkeeper Denes Dibusz was instrumental in keeping the score level in the early stages, producing a series of impressive saves to deny Frankfurt's attackers. He first made a fine stop to palm away Hugo Ekitike's fierce strike at the near post, before also thwarting efforts from Arthur Theate and Ekitike again from outside the box.
However, Ferencvaros' resilience was dealt a significant blow when Dibusz was forced to limp off injured, bringing an end to his impressive performance. His replacement, Adam Varga, was immediately called into action, making a spectacular diving save to tip Rasmus Kristensen's strike out for a corner, before also denying Ansgar Knauff with a more routine stop.
The one-sided traffic continued after the break, with Frankfurt eventually breaking the deadlock through a stunning strike from Can Uzun. The midfielder found the top corner with a brilliant effort from outside the area, giving Frankfurt the lead they deserved.
Frankfurt doubled their advantage just before the hour mark, as Hugo Ekitike capped off an impressive individual performance with a well-deserved goal. Ekitike showcased his skill and composure, spinning in the box and calmly converting from close range, stabbing the ball past Adam Varga.

The visitors were fortunate to avoid further punishment when a penalty was initially awarded against Ellyes Skhiri for handball, only for VAR to intervene and overturn the decision. Despite this reprieve, Ferencvaros struggled to gain a foothold in the match, as Frankfurt continued to dominate. Dino Toppmoller's side were able to make substitutions and rest some of their key players, yet still managed to create further scoring opportunities, including a chance for Arthur Theate to extend their lead.

The result maintains Frankfurt's unbeaten home record in the UEFA Europa League this season and leaves them on the cusp of automatic qualification for the last 16. In contrast, Ferencvaros are clinging to a play-off spot, still seeking their first-ever European victory in Germany.
