Bayern Survive Scare to Defeat Wolfsburg 3-2 and Extend Bundesliga Lead
Bayern Munich extended their Bundesliga lead to seven points with a thrilling 3-2 win over Wolfsburg, thanks to a brace from Leon Goretzka and a goal from Michael Olise.
Leon Goretzka's brace proved to be the difference-maker as Bayern Munich survived a scare to edge VfL Wolfsburg 3-2 in a thrilling encounter at the Allianz Arena. The victory extended Bayern's lead at the top of the Bundesliga table to seven points, maintaining their impressive record of just one league defeat this season.
Bayern Munich dominated the opening 20 minutes, and their pressure eventually paid off when Leon Goretzka broke the deadlock. The 29-year-old midfielder received a pass from Joshua Kimmich, drove forward, and unleashed a powerful strike from the edge of the box into the bottom-left corner, giving the Bavarians the lead.
However, Wolfsburg responded quickly, scoring with their first chance of the game just four minutes later. A cleverly worked free-kick found Algerian striker Mohamed Amoura just inside the penalty area, and he expertly bent his strike into the far right-bottom corner, leveling the score and setting the stage for a thrilling contest.
Bayern Munich responded resiliently to Wolfsburg's equalizer, restoring their lead six minutes before the end of the first half. Michael Olise received the ball on the edge of the area and drilled a precise shot into the bottom-right corner, giving the Bavarians a 2-1 advantage.
Wolfsburg started the second half strongly, dominating the game and creating scoring opportunities. Five minutes into the half, Kingsley Coman delivered a cross into the penalty area, where Leroy Sane was waiting, but his header sailed just inches wide of the left post. Despite this close call, Bayern eventually extended their lead through Leon Goretzka's second goal of the game.

Goretzka's second goal came courtesy of an exquisite free-kick from Michael Olise, which found its way into the box. Goretzka expertly glanced the ball in off the far post, doubling Bayern's lead and seemingly putting the game out of reach for Wolfsburg. However, Bayern squandered an opportunity to seal the win with a fourth goal when Jamal Musiala fired wide from just inside the penalty area five minutes from time.
Wolfsburg managed to pull a goal back late in the game, as Mohamed Amoura netted his second of the match. Amoura turned Tiago Tomas' pass into the right side of the Bayern goal, reducing the deficit to 3-2. Despite this late surge, Bayern held on to secure all three points, solidifying their position at the top of the Bundesliga table. Wolfsburg, meanwhile, remain just outside the European spots, trailing sixth-placed FSV Mainz by a single point.
