Andries Jonker to Step Down as Netherlands Women's Team Manager After EURO 2025
Andries Jonker will resign as manager of the Netherlands women's national team after the European Championships in 2025.
Andries Jonker will step down as the manager of the Dutch national women's team after the European Championships (EURO 2025) later this year, the Royal Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed on Friday. Jonker took over as manager in August 2022, following the departure of Englishman Mark Parsons, and signed a contract until EURO 2025.
The KNVB announced that they will not extend Jonker's contract beyond the upcoming EUROs. In a statement on their website, the KNVB explained, “After an evaluation, it was decided that, after an extraordinary World Cup in New Zealand and Australia with a spot in the quarterfinals and elimination against the eventual world champion, and the upcoming European Championships in Switzerland, it is time for a new phase.”
Andries Jonker's contract as national team coach will expire after the upcoming European Championship and will not be renewed.

Under Jonker's leadership, the Dutch women's team reached the quarterfinals of the 2023 Women's World Cup, where they were eliminated by the eventual world champion. The team's ranking in the FIFA world rankings dropped to eleventh. In contrast, under Mark Parsons, the team was ranked fourth in 2022.
The KNVB's technical director, Nigel de Jong, expressed his appreciation for Jonker's efforts, saying, “We would like to express our appreciation and gratitude for the efforts of Andries Jonker during the past period. He has created a professional environment in which new players have been given an opportunity internationally. A period in which the game has improved over the last 2.5 years.”
De Jong also expressed his confidence in the team's ability to achieve a successful conclusion to Jonker's tenure, saying, “We hope we can achieve a beautiful and successful conclusion with the EUROs. We have nothing but confidence in that.” The Netherlands will face a challenging group stage at EURO 2025, having been drawn against reigning European champions England, France, and Wales in Switzerland between July 2-27.
