Harry Maguire Backs Amorim to Turn Around Manchester United's Season
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire says the team faces a tough transition under new manager Ruben Amorim, but has faith in his coaching staff.
Manchester United captain Harry Maguire has acknowledged that adapting to new manager Ruben Amorim's vastly different style will be a challenging task for the team. Amorim's approach is the “total opposite” of his predecessor Erik ten Hag's, making the transition a difficult one.
Despite the differences, Maguire expressed the squad's full confidence in Amorim, who has taken charge of 10 games since replacing Ten Hag in November. Ruben Amorim's preferred tactical setup, which features a back three, has yielded four wins, five losses, and one draw during his tenure so far.
Manchester United's struggles in the Premier League have continued, with the team sitting 14th in the table after losing four of their last five matches. Captain Harry Maguire acknowledges that the constant changes in management style have made it challenging for the team to gain momentum.
”The thing is with the managers and the styles, it is not like they have come in and they have similar styles,” Maguire told Sky Sports in an interview published on Sunday. “They are the total opposite in terms of what they want and what they demand. So the transition period is going to be tough.” Despite the difficulties, Maguire expressed his confidence in the current manager, Ruben Amorim, and his coaching staff. “We all have great belief in the manager and all his coaching staff. I am sure things are going to turn around,” he added.
United will be looking to turn their fortunes around with two crucial matches coming up. They host Newcastle United on Monday, followed by a tough trip to face league leaders Liverpool on Sunday, still reeling from their 2-0 loss at Wolves on Thursday.
