AC Milan Appoint Sergio Conceicao as New Manager

Paulo Fonseca's tenure at AC Milan has come to an end, with the club appointing former Porto coach Sergio Conceicao as his replacement.

Paulo Fonseca's tenure as AC Milan's coach has come to an end, with the Portuguese manager confirming his sacking after the team's 1-1 draw with Roma. Fonseca broke the news himself as he left the San Siro stadium, telling journalists that he had been let go.

Fonseca's departure comes after a disappointing start to the season, with AC Milan currently sitting eighth in the Serie A standings with 27 points from 17 games. The team's poor performance has put pressure on the club's American owner, Gerry Cardinale.

According to reports, former Porto coach Sergio Conceicao is set to take over as AC Milan's new manager, having already accepted the offer. Conceicao will face a tough test in his first game, as AC Milan takes on Juventus in the semifinal of the Supercoppa Italiana on Friday.

“I've just learnt that I've been sacked as coach. That's life, that's how it is, my conscience is calm because I did everything I could,” said the 51-year-old Portuguese.

Paulo Fonseca's tenure at AC Milan was marked by a dismal start to the season, prompting several key players, including Rafael Leao, to publicly take responsibility for the team's struggles in an attempt to deflect blame from their coach. Fonseca had joined AC Milan in the summer, arriving from Lille.

According to widespread reports in the international press, AC Milan's board has identified former Porto coach Sergio Conceicao as Fonseca's replacement. Conceicao has reportedly agreed to a deal with the club, and renowned transfer market journalist Fabrizio Romano has since confirmed the news, lending credibility to the reports.
