NBA Fines Anthony Edwards $100,000 for Profane Language

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $100,000 by the NBA for using profanity during a postgame interview after Friday's win in Houston.

Anthony Edwards' fines this season aren't limited to his postgame comments. He also incurred a $35,000 penalty for making an obscene gesture on the court during the Timberwolves' 130-126 road win over the Sacramento Kings on November 15.

As a two-time NBA All-Star, Edwards has been a key contributor to the Timberwolves' success this season. He currently leads the team in scoring, averaging 25.3 points per game, while also contributing 5.5 rebounds and four assists per contest. The Timberwolves, who have a 16-14 record, rely heavily on Edwards' performance on the court.

Anthony Edwards' latest fine is not an isolated incident, as the 23-year-old guard has been penalized twice before this month for using profane language. On December 9, Edwards was fined $25,000 for his postgame comments after the Timberwolves' 107-90 win at Golden State on December 6.

Edwards incurred another fine of $75,000 just two weeks later, on December 23, after using profanity while expressing his frustration with the officiating in the Timberwolves' 113-103 home loss to the Warriors on December 21. This latest fine of $100,000 brings Edwards' total penalties for using profanity this month to $200,000.

Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards has been fined $100,000 for using profanity during a postgame interview following his team's 113-112 win over the Houston Rockets on Friday. This is the third time this month Edwards has been fined for using profanity, with the NBA taking into account his history of offenses when determining the penalty amount.

Edwards' latest fine comes after he used profanity during an on-court interview, which was broadcast on FanDuel Sports Network North. The NBA's Executive Vice President and Head of Basketball Operations, Joe Dumars, cited Edwards' “history of using profane language during media interviews” as a factor in the hefty fine. Edwards has now been fined a total of $235,000 this month for his use of profanity.
