Court orders deposed Emir Ado Bayero and four others to never again parade as Kano traditional rulers...

Kano State High Court permanently bars deposed Emir Ado Bayero and four others from parading as traditional rulers, following a lawsuit by the Kano State government to prevent them from claiming emiralty.

A permanent injunction has been issued by a Kano State High Court, presided over by Justice Amina Adamu Aliyu, prohibiting Aminu Ado Bayero and the other four ousted Emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye from claiming to be the next Emir.

The Court further barred the 15th Emir of Kano, the previously listed Emirs, their friends, agents, and anybody nominated by them from holding the title of Emir of Kano, Bichi, Gaya, Rano, or Karaye in the verdict issued on Monday, July 15.

The lawsuit was started by the Kano State government in an effort to stop Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir, and the other four Emirs from posing as Emirs.

Furthermore, the Government gave the overthrown Emirs 48 hours to leave their palaces after being overthrown.

Ado-Bayero's legal team, led by Abdul Muhammed SAN, withdrew from the ongoing Kano emirship lawsuit before the State High Court earlier in July.

The plaintiffs in this lawsuit were the Kano State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly, and the Attorney General of Kano State.

An ex parte motion was filed on May 27 by their attorney, Ibrahim Isah-Wangida.

Ado-Bayero and the other four deposed emirs of Bichi, Rano, Gaya, and Karaye were asking the court to stop them from claiming emiralty.

Ado-Bayero, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar II (Emir of Karaye), Alhaji Kabiru Muhammad-Inuwa (Emir of Rano), Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim-Gaya (Emir of Gaya), and Alhaji Nasiru Ado-Bayero (Emir of Bichi) are among the respondents in the case.

The Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Director of the State Security Service, and the Inspector General of Police are also among the responders.
