NAFDAC Takes Action Against Unregistered Food Facilities in Rivers [PHOTOS]

Rivers' unregistered bakeries and water factory are closed by NAFDAC

A sachet water plant and three unregistered bakeries in Rivers State have been shut down by the National Agency for Food and Drug Control (NAFDAC) in a flash.

Customers were at serious risk of serious health problems because of these facilities' inadequate hygienic requirements and subpar operation inside improvised buildings.

Comprehensive investigations and tips from concerned residents led to an operation spearheaded by Rivers State State Coordinator, Emmanuel Onogwu.

The unregistered bakeries, which are located in the regions of Rmuoparali and Mgbuoba, were discovered to be running in an unhygienic manner, with one of their manufacturing rooms using a generator.

NAFDAC reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to upholding public health standards and battling dishonest producers in a statement that was released.

Onogwu urged the public to keep providing NAFDAC with important information, which will help the Agency in its efforts to guarantee the quality and safety of regulated items.

NAFDAC also acted decisively against other unregistered bakeries in a similar event that occurred in Plateau state, shutting them down for operating without the required regulatory approvals.

The North-Central Zone Director, Shaba Mohammed, revealed that several water-packaging companies had closed due to poor production procedures.

Mohammed also emphasized the closure of multiple patent medicine stores due to the sale of unregistered and expired medical products during routine surveillance and inspections by NAFDAC regulatory personnel in different local government areas.

Mohammed reaffirmed NAFDAC's purpose to create a strong regulatory system that guarantees only high-quality food, medications, and other regulated commodities are manufactured, distributed, and consumed. This underscores the agency's dedication to protecting public health.

He emphasized the significance of consuming only NAFDAC-registered items and reporting any infractions, cautioning against the spread of unapproved and unregulated products.
