Public Involvement Essential For Grassroots Development — Governor Finitri
Public involvement is essential for grassroots development, according to Governor Finitri
In an attempt to promote citizen involvement in grassroots development, Adamawa state's Michika local government region hosted the first-ever town hall meeting for interested parties regarding its proposed budget for 2024.
The purpose of the conference was to rebuild the Michika local government area following the insurgent attack at the Buba Marwa Civil Center in Michika yesterday. The Adamawa State Planning Commission organized the meeting in collaboration with the governments of Nigeria and Germany.
The Community Development Plan (CDP), according to Mr. Patrick Yunana, the Adamawa State Planning Commission's representative, is a component of the state government's efforts to make development and governance an inclusive concept.
Nothing emphasises that “this local government budget proposal presentation is the first in Nigeria,” but rather that CDP allowed the community to provide feedback on what they wanted the government to accomplish for them.
OXFAM, CRUDAN, and CPAD endorsed the inaugural town hall meeting with the subject “Budget of Consolidation and Inclusion.”
The goal, according to Mr. Enoch Bamayi, is to guarantee that development is comprehensive by fostering harmony within the community and promoting stakeholder involvement at the unit level.
“Mika was chosen because they showed so much interest in making the people know what they are doing, particularly after the insurgency attack on the local government area, adding that other local government areas will follow.”
He imposed a tax on the LGA to increase its revenue generated domestically.
Speaking, Mr. Amos Drambi, the Chairman of the Michika Local Government Area, stated that his council had chosen to use the state government's CDP because it would allow his administration to demonstrate transparency and guarantee that only programs focused on the needs of people are carried out because that is what they have selected.
He gave Governor Ahamdu Finitri high marks for his leadership style, which has transformed governance in the state into an inclusive concept at all levels.
The local administration of Michika proposed an N6.89 billion budget for 2024, of which just 2% came from internally generated resources.
The Muslim Council, CSOs, trade unions, PWDs, IDPs, Women's Society, and all of Michika's political parties sent out goodwill notes.
