Alleged Multimillion-pound Bribe: Diezani Cries Out, Begs For Prayers
Diezani Allison-Madueke |
Diezani Allison-Madueke, the former minister of petroleum resources, has requested Nigerians to pray for her in light of the multimillion-pound bribery and corruption charges brought against her by the UK National Crime Agency (NCA).
"Please pray for me. After the hearing in the fifth-floor courtroom, she said to the Nigerian community in the UK, "Please pray for me."
After the hearing, a prominent attorney who traveled from Nigeria to represent Benedict Peters declared that "the case is weak" and that it would not stand
Emeka Ozoani (SAN), addressing the media in front of the court, contended that "they, NCA, have spent five to six years investigating the case and are trying to justify what they've done with taxpayers' money."
"I came to represent one of those linked to the case."
"Asked if he flew from Nigeria just for the hearing. He replied: "Yes. I came because of my client."
