Court declines bail request for auxiliary nurse and Mohbad's friend; sends them back to police custody

The 37-year-old auxiliary nurse Fisayo Ogedengbe and Mohbad's friend Ayobani Sadiq, who had been detained by the police in relation to the contentious death of Nigerian hip-hop artist Lerioluwa Aloba, also known as Mohbad, were returned to custody by a Lagos State Magistrates' Court in Yaba on Monday, November 6, 2023.

The court denied them bail, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation and the potential for the suspects to obstruct it if they were freed.

The late musician allegedly died as a result of the nurse's injections.

Magistrate Adeola Olatunbosun similarly ordered that Mohbad's friend Ayobani Sadiq, who is also being held as a suspect in the case, be sent back to police custody.

The Lagos socialite Balogun Eletu, also known as Sam Larry, who was also charged with Mohbad's murder and taken into police custody on October 6, and Mohbad's former boss Azeez Fashola, better known as Naira Marley, were granted N20 million bail each by the magistrate.

Since the police claim that the investigation into the crime is still ongoing, Olatunbosun decided to postpone the case to November 29 in order to consult with the DPP.

Recall that Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, in a contentious manner, and was buried at Ikorodu the next day.
