Klaebo's achievement puts him alongside Norwegian legends Marit Bjoergen, Bjorn Daehlie, and Ole Einar Bjorndalen, who also hold eight gold medals. With this win, Klaebo has cemented his position as one of the greatest cross-country skiers of all time.
Atle Lie McGrath's win marked his third Olympic gold, putting him in an elite group with fellow Norwegians Marit Bjoergen, Bjorn Daehlie, and Ole Einar Bjorndalen, who also have eight gold medals each.
Einar Hedegart, a biathlete turned cross-country skier, gave Johannes Klaebo a run for his money, finishing third in the men's 10km freestyle event. He lost steam on a climb in the final kilometer, ending up 14 seconds behind Klaebo, with Mathis Desloges of France taking silver, just 4.9 seconds behind Hedegart.
Hedegart's transition from biathlon to cross-country skiing has been impressive, considering he's only focused on the latter since November 2025. His recent wins and strong performances have made him a contender for Norway's Olympic team.
The skiers battled warm weather, with temps soaring to over 6°C (42.8°F), making for a pretty unusual race day. Some athletes even ditched their tops, racing in just their bibs.

Track officials opted not to salt the course, despite the heat, which might've made the snow more compact.
