Australian snowboarder Cameron Bolton suffered two stable neck fractures after a serious fall during training at the Winter Olympics. He's been transferred to a Milan hospital for further assessment and imaging.

Bolton, 35, took silver in the mixed team snowboard cross with Mia Clift at last year's world championships in Engadin, Switzerland. He's been replaced by James Johnstone, who'll make his Olympic debut alongside Adam Lambert and Jarryd Hughes in the men's snowboard cross qualifying.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has enacted the Late Athlete Replacement option, bringing in Olympic debutant James Johnstone to replace Cameron Bolton, who suffered a broken neck in training. Johnstone will join Adam Lambert and Jarryd Hughes for the men's snowboard cross qualifying on Thursday.

Bolton, a three-time Olympian, was airlifted to a Milan hospital after reporting worsening neck pain following a serious fall during training on Monday. He had been set to compete in the snowboard cross event, but his injury has ended his Winter Olympics campaign.

Australia's snowboard halfpipe entrant Misaki Vaughan won't be competing in the Olympics after suffering a head injury during training on Monday. She failed a head impact assessment on Tuesday, and the Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed her withdrawal. Amelie Haskell and Emily Arthur will represent Australia in the women's halfpipe qualifying instead.

The AOC hasn't announced any replacement for Vaughan, so Haskell and Arthur will be the only Australian representatives in the event. Would you like to know more about the Australian team's performance or the snowboarding events at the Olympics?
