Norwegian biathlon star Sturla Holm Laegreid's emotional confession about cheating on his girlfriend overshadows Olympic bronze medal win.

“It's been the worst week of my life. I had a gold medal in my life...”

Norwegian biathlon star Sturla Holm Laegreid made a shocking confession on live TV after winning the bronze medal in the men's individual 20 km race at the Winter Olympics. He revealed that he had cheated on his girlfriend three months ago and is now heartbroken despite his Olympic achievement.

Laegreid explained that meeting his girlfriend six months ago was a life-changing experience, and she's the love of his life. However, he messed up by cheating on her, and it's been the worst week of his life since he told her about it a week ago. He's hoping that his public confession might help him win her back.

The biathlete's emotional interview has sparked a lot of discussion, with many praising him for his honesty. Laegreid said he wants to be a good role model and admit when he makes mistakes, even if it's painful

“It's big. It's my first Olympic medal. I want to thank everyone who has helped me along the way. The technicians for preparing the skis today, and my whole family, who have supported me. And then there's someone I wanted to share this with, who may not be watching today,” Laegreid said, according to TV2.

“Six months ago, I met the love of my life and the most beautiful and finest person in the world. And three months ago, I made my biggest mistake and cheated on her,” the 28-year-old continued with tears in his eyes.

Sturla Holm Laegreid revealed that he's been struggling with guilt since telling his girlfriend about the infidelity a week ago, which has had a profound impact on him. He's been feeling terrible and can't shake off the weight of his actions, despite winning an Olympic bronze medal.

“It's been the worst week of my life. I had a gold medal in my life. There are probably many out there who look at me with different eyes. I only have eyes for her. I don't really know what I want to achieve by saying this, but sport has been secondary in the last few days. So I wish I could share it with her.”

Johan-Olav Botn of Norway took home the gold medal after a thrilling final lap and flawless shooting performance. Eric Perrot of France secured the silver medal, finishing 14.8 seconds behind Botn. Meanwhile, Sturla Holm Laegreid of Norway claimed the bronze medal, though his post-race interview was overshadowed by a shocking confession.
