Former Chelsea and Real Madrid forward Eden Hazard, 32, has announced his retirement from the game



The two-time Premier League champion Eden Hazard announced his retirement from sport on social media on Tuesday:

The announcement was made by the 32-year-old on Tuesday morning in a post on his Instagram page.


The Belgian wrote on Instagram: "You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time."


He also wrote: "After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer.


The 2015 PFA Players' Player of the Year, Hazard, also said: "I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian selection.


Hazard became one of the most gifted young players in European football after playing a significant role in Lille's Ligue 1 championship-winning squad in 2011.


He was sought after by teams all over Europe. He made his decision to join Chelsea, where he quickly established himself as one of their most adored and productive players.


Hazard joined Chelsea from Lille in 2012 for £32 million, and during his time there, he scored 110 goals in 352 games.

While at Stamford Bridge, he won the FA Cup, League Cup, two Europa Leagues, two Premier Leagues, and two Europa Leagues.


Hazard joined Real Madrid in July 2019 in a deal worth a club record £130 million, plus bonuses.

He made 76 appearances while at Real and scored seven goals in that time, including 10 in all competitions during the 2022–23 season.


Two LaLiga championships, one Champions League, and one Copa Del Rey are just a few of the trophies won by the club.

While remembering some of the spectacular moments he generated throughout his 16-year career, many football fans have expressed their well wishes to the former Chelsea and Real Madrid player.


Eden Hazard played 749 games, contributed 193 assists, scored 200 goals, and took home 15 trophies.
