Deji Adeyanju, a public affairs expert, has chastised Peter Obi, the Labour Party's presidential candidate, for acknowledging that the leaked 'Yes Daddy' recording was indeed a conversation between him and Bishop David Oyedepo of the Living Faith Church.

Adeyanju claimed Peter Obi lied since he had denied having a phone call with the Bishop.

When the phone conversation first leaked on the internet, crowds of Obi fans said it was a hoax, accusing his political opponents of being behind it.

"Political criminals are trying to spin the conversation as if the LP candidate was making a religious comment," Okonkwo had said.

They grew more hostile after a spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council, Kenneth Okonkwo, issued a statement stating that there was indeed a conversation between Obi and Oyedepo but that the leaked version had been doctored.

Obi, in a tweet, also distanced himself from the recording, claiming it was a hoax.

Obi, on the other hand, appears to have made a U-turn when he confirmed that he and the Man of God had a phone discussion.

During an appearance on Arise Television, the former Anambra State Governor did not refute the tape but stated that the election was not a religious conflict.

"Call it whatever you want to call it. I am not a religious bigot. Do you think I can just pick a phone and say 'religious war'? No, I was even begging the bishop to help me ask his people to vote, which was what I was doing for six months - begging," Obi said.

Adeyanju reacted by recalling Obi lying through one of his subordinates and even threatening to sue the internet site that released the tape, questioning why he confessed it after a month.

"He lied through an aide that the audio was fake after initially admitting through Okonkwo, then he comes after a month to admit the same after threatening to sue PG. Peter is always lying," Adeyanju alleged.
