A YOUNG MAN ON THE RUN FOR ALLEGEDLY INVITING A GROUP OF CULTISTS TO MURDER HIS FATHER

A young man who has yet to be identified is on the run after allegedly inviting a group of cultists to murder his father, Oba G.O Olukunle of Gbokoto land in Ogun State.

According to reports, the unfortunate incident occurred on Sunday, September 11, at the monarch's residence in Gbokoto.

SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the command's spokesperson, said in a statement on Monday that six of the cultists were apprehended while attempting to assassinate the traditional ruler in his palace.

The suspects' names are Michael Ayodele, Monday Samuel, Ademola Matthew, Hammed Jelili, Ogundele Ojeh, and Sunkanmi Fadina, according to him.

"The suspects were apprehended after a distress call was received at Oja odan divisional headquarters at about 4:25 p.m. from the Oba of Gbokoto land, Oba G.O Olukunle, that some cultists were about to kill him in his palace."

The DPO Oja- Odan division quickly mobilized his men and moved to the palace, where they encountered the hoodlums shooting sporadically within the palace.

The policemen engaged them in a shootout and eventually subdued the cultists, arresting six of them.

Interrogation revealed that the arrested suspects were members of the dreaded Eiye confraternity. They also informed the police that the Oba's son, who is now at large, had invited them to come and eliminate his father due to an unresolved issue the Oba had with his mother.

Items recovered from them include a locally made double barrel pistol, two live cartridges, and one expended cartridge, while the Oba's son is said to have escaped with another gun belonging to the group," he said.
