West Ham part ways with Nuno Espirito Santo just 13 games into Championship season and target Scott Parker for swift return to London Stadium.
Parker top choice for West Ham job after Nuno sacked...
West Ham are moving to appoint Scott Parker as their new manager following the dismissal of Nuno Espirito Santo on Tuesday.
Parker has emerged as the club's leading candidate to take over and talks are already underway, with a deal potentially completed in time for Wednesday's clash against Cardiff.
The former England midfielder spent four seasons at West Ham as a player and has twice won promotion from the Championship as a manager, with Bournemouth and Burnley.
Parker, 46, has also previously managed Fulham and Belgian side Club Brugge.
West Ham are now searching for their fourth permanent manager since David Moyes departed in May 2024.
Julen Lopetegui lasted just six months before being sacked, while Graham Potter was dismissed after only eight months in charge.
Nuno, 52, oversaw West Ham's relegation from the Premier League last season but remained at the club in an attempt to guide them straight back to the top flight.
Despite being tipped as favourites for automatic promotion, the Hammers sit eighth in the Championship after 13 games, six points adrift of leaders Middlesbrough.

The club had lost their last two league matches against Southampton and West Brom.
Nuno, who has previously managed Wolves, Tottenham and Nottingham Forest, was appointed in September last year.
“West Ham United can confirm that men's first-team head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has left his position with immediate effect,” the club said in a statement.
“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the board of directors believe that a change is necessary at this time in order to ensure that the club's objectives and expectations remain on track.”
