Giallorossi leave it late to down Cagliari in six-goal thriller...
AS Roma preserved their unbeaten start to the Serie A season, moving to six wins and three draws after two late goals secured a 4-2 victory over Cagliari at the Stadio Olimpico.
Elia Caprile was called into action early to keep out Gianluca Mancini's header inside the first five minutes, but the home crowd was soon stunned as Roma conceded a penalty. Michel Adopo's flicked header from a corner struck the arm of Niccolo Pisilli.
M'Bala Nzola made no mistake from the spot, sending Pierluigi Gollini the wrong way for only the second first-half league goal Roma have conceded all season. Their response was swift, however, as Nahuel Molina's cross was nodded in by youngster Emanuele Lulli for his second goal in as many games.
The 19-year-old then took charge of the half, delivering a cross for Santiago Castro to head narrowly wide before teeing up Roma's second, as Pisilli atoned for conceding the penalty with a composed finish.
Caprile was forced to keep out a Matias Soule free-kick, but Cagliari threatened an equaliser of their own, with Gollini denying Adopo before Nzola dragged a shot inches wide as Roma went into the break ahead.
Both keepers were busy again after the interval, Caprile getting down to smother another Castro effort before Gollini won a crucial one-on-one duel against Alieu Fadera.
Cagliari kept pushing to the end, and Gollini had to be alert again to keep out Juan Rodriguez before producing an even finer stop to deny Paul Mendy's low drive. Their persistence finally told when Adam Obert picked out Daniel Maldini, who curled a superb finish into the bottom corner to make it 2-2 with nine minutes remaining.
Determined to protect a valuable point, Caprile did well to deny Soule from restoring Roma's lead, but Cagliari's resistance finally broke. Two substitutes combined as Daniele Ghilardi delivered a cross for Rodrigo Mora, who powered a bullet header into the net in the 85th minute.

And with nine goals in his last 10 games, substitute Donyell Malen was always likely to have the final word, making sure of all three points for the Giallorossi when he tapped in from close range after a rebound fell kindly just two minutes later.
As a result, Roma cut the gap to arch-rivals Lazio back to four points at the top of the table, while Cagliari have now suffered three straight league defeats and remain stuck in mid-table.
