| Fowler's 46-save shutout, |
Tuesday had it all: the Stanley Cup champs finding a way late, goaltenders stealing the show, and a three-goal comeback for the ages in Anaheim. Ten games, ten statements, and the playoff picture is already starting to shift, here's your full roundup of the night that was in the NHL.
Fowler blanks opponents for Montreal, Tkachuk brothers power Florida in NHL roundup...
Rookie Jacob Fowler was flawless in net, turning away all 46 shots he faced to backstop the Montreal Canadiens to a shutout victory.
In goal, Connor Hellebuyck was stellar again, anchoring a statement win with a heavy workload between the pipes.
In Florida, it was a family affair as Matthew and Brady Tkachuk both erupted offensively to fuel the Panthers' big win.
Blue Jackets Edge Flyers 4-3 in Overtime Behind Johnson Winner
The Columbus Blue Jackets entered 2026/27 with their highest expectations in years. At 5-5-0, they haven't found a consistent streak yet, but they've delivered in key moments to stay relevant in the Metropolitan Division race.
That resilience showed Tuesday against division foe Philadelphia. The Flyers, now 3-7-4, erased an early 3-0 deficit to force overtime in a game both sides badly needed.
It was Kent Johnson who settled it. After netting the second of Columbus' three first-period goals, the rising star buried the overtime winner. A goal and an assist from Philadelphia's Trevor Zegras wasn't enough as the Flyers continue searching for rhythm.

Aho's Late Winner Keeps Hurricanes Rolling Past Bruins 2-1
The Carolina Hurricanes are playing like defending champions. Now 10-2-2, they showed again why their system is so hard to beat against a tough Eastern Conference opponent in the Boston Bruins (9-3-1).
Jackson Blake's early tally left the game knotted 1-1 heading into the third, until Sebastian Aho delivered the difference. The star center broke the deadlock late in regulation to secure the final lead for Carolina.
Boston struck fast through Pavel Zacha, who scored just 90 seconds in, but generated little after that. Held to just 15 shots by Pyotr Kochetkov, the Bruins were fortunate to keep it that close.

Kaiser and Kantserov Rally Blackhawks Past Kings 2-1
The Chicago Blackhawks (4-8-0) hoped this would be the year their rebuild finally turned the corner, but 2026/27 has started slowly once again.
Tuesday brought a much-needed response. After falling behind 1-0 to Los Angeles, Chicago fought back and held on behind goals from Wyatt Kaiser and Roman Kantserov.
Spencer Knight anchored the win, stopping 25 of 26 shots. On the other side, Anton Forsberg made 25 saves to keep the Kings (3-6-2) in it, but Los Angeles couldn't avoid another setback in what has been a disappointing start for a team with playoff aspirations.

Fowler's 46-Save Shutout Lifts Canadiens Over Blues 2-0
The Montreal Canadiens (7-3-2) came into the season as a Stanley Cup favorite in the East for their firepower, but Tuesday's win over the St. Louis Blues (5-6-1) showed they can win a different way.
Jacob Fowler was the story, turning aside all 46 shots he faced for a shutout and making a strong case that Montreal owns the best goaltending tandem in the league.
The offense came from Zach Bolduc and Florian Xhekaj, who each found the net. Jordan Binnington was solid at the other end with 18 saves on 20 shots, but St. Louis had no answer for Fowler in this one.

Islanders Survive Blown Lead, Edge Predators 4-3 in Shootout
Neither the New York Islanders (6-4-2) nor the Nashville Predators (4-3-5) are considered heavyweights in 2026/27, but both have the mix of youth and veteran talent to hang with anyone in the league.
That balance was on display Tuesday. New York roared out to a 3-0 lead early in the second, but Nashville clawed back, with Ryan O'Reilly's third-period strike tying it at 3-3.
It took overtime and then a shootout to settle it. Kyle Palmieri and Bo Horvat both converted their chances, sealing two points for the Islanders on the road after nearly letting the lead slip away.

Hellebuyck Shines in Devils Debut as New Jersey Routs Stars 5-1
The New Jersey Devils (8-4-0) got a statement debut from Connor Hellebuyck on Tuesday night. The former Vezina and Hart winner was dominant, stopping 16 of 17 shots against an uncharacteristically flat Dallas Stars (7-4-1) attack.
Captain Nico Hischier led the way offensively with two goals, one of three Devils to post multi-point nights, as New Jersey looked every bit like a legitimate Stanley Cup contender with their new star in net.
It was a night to forget for Dallas. Casey DeSmith allowed five goals on 27 shots, and Justin Hryckowian provided the lone bright spot with the Stars' only goal in a rare off-night for a team that has started 2026/27 strong.

Tkachuk Brothers Dominate as Panthers Crush Jets 5-1
The Florida Panthers (7-4-2) haven't been dominant every night in 2026/27, but when they click, few teams can match them. That was the case Tuesday as they rolled past the Winnipeg Jets (4-5-3).
The Tkachuk brothers led the charge again. Brady posted a goal and two assists while Matthew added four helpers in a complete takeover, and Akira Schmid backed them up by stopping 24 of 25 shots in a comfortable win.
It was a rough night for a competitive Jets squad. Clay Stevenson struggled in net, and captain Adam Lowry's lone goal was all Winnipeg could muster as its solid start continues to fade.

Wild Stay Hot With 3-1 Win Over Mammoth
The Minnesota Wild (9-3-2) have been one of the NHL's best teams in 2026/27, and on the road against division rival Utah Mammoth (8-5-0), they stuck to their game to grab another late victory.
After a scoreless first period, Minnesota took control with three straight goals from Joel Eriksson Ek, Maxim Shabanov and Kirill Kaprizov to build a lead it would not relinquish.
Logan Cooley netted a late goal for Utah, but it was too little, too late. Jesper Wallstedt made 26 saves as the Wild showed again why they are a legitimate contender when healthy.

Golden Knights Pull Away Late to Beat Senators 4-1
The Vegas Golden Knights (9-4-1) have been dominant at home at 6-2-0, and their latest win over the Ottawa Senators (8-5-0) showed just how deep and balanced the defending Western Conference champions are.
Shane Pinto tied it 1-1 just 34 seconds into the third, but from there it was all Vegas. Raphael Lavoie, William Karlsson and Jack Eichel scored to close it out as the Golden Knights continued their run of beating quality opponents.
Ottawa played a strong two periods but couldn't match Vegas' pace and intensity late. The loss drops the Senators to 3-3-0 on the road, with the team now alternating wins and losses over its last eight games.

Canucks Storm Back From 5-2 Down to Stun Ducks 6-5 in OT
The Anaheim Ducks (5-6-1) looked in control after opening up a 5-2 lead over the Vancouver Canucks (3-10-1), but the road team mounted a stunning comeback. Vancouver poured in four goals in the third period, including two from Jonathan Lekkerimaki to force extra time.
Filip Hronek finished the rally just 11 seconds from the end of overtime, capping one of the most dramatic comebacks of the season.
Anaheim had positives, with two goals from A.J. Greer and three assists from Jackson LaCombe, but Lukas Dostal gave up six goals on 33 shots as the Ducks settled for one point after blowing a three-goal lead.

Ellis Shuts Out Sharks as Sabres Win 2-0
The Buffalo Sabres moved to 5-4-3 with a 2-0 win over the San Jose Sharks, getting goals from Olen Zellweger and Zach Benson, his first of the season.
Colten Ellis delivered in net, stopping all 23 shots he faced for his second career NHL shutout.
