NHL Recap: Oilers Blank Flames, Capitals Top Flyers, Kraken Edge Leafs

Oilers Vs Flames
Oilers’ stay hot

From McDavid's league-leading 36 points in an Oilers shutout to Tuch's back-to-back two-goal games for the Capitals, here's everything you missed from Tuesday's four-game NHL slate.

McDavid stays red-hot as Oilers blank Flames, Capitals' new additions power win over Flyers...

Connor McDavid extended his torrid start to the season as the Edmonton Oilers blanked the Calgary Flames in the first Battle of Alberta of the year.

In Washington, the Capitals' two major offseason additions came through in a rivalry win over the Philadelphia Flyers.

Tuch, Kyrou Lead Capitals Past Flyers

Alex Tuch and Jordan Kyrou Washington's two marquee offseason additions powered the Capitals to a victory over rival Philadelphia. Tuch netted two goals to push his season total to nine.

Six of his nine goals this season have come in three two-goal performances, including at least two goals in back-to-back games.

Jordan Kyrou added two of Washington's other three goals to bring his season total to four. He has now recorded at least one point in five straight games and ranks tied for second on the team in goals, third in assists with six, and third in points with 10.

Defenseman Jack St. Ivany also chipped in with two assists in his Capitals debut. The 27-year-old has never appeared in more than 20 games in a season over his five-year career and played just four games with the Winnipeg Jets last season.

The loss drops Philadelphia to the bottom of the Eastern Conference, where they are now tied with the Vancouver Canucks for the league's worst point differential at minus-22.

McDavid Fuels Oilers' Shutout Win Over Flames

Connor McDavid added two more assists in Edmonton's shutout victory in the Battle of Alberta, pushing his season total to 28 through 13 games. No other player in the NHL has more than 16 assists, and no one else has topped 25 points McDavid sits at 36.

Mathieu Joseph (3), Mattias Ekholm (2), Kasperi Kapanen (4) and Alex Formenton (2) all found the back of the net for Edmonton, while Tristan Jarry turned aside all 24 shots he faced for the shutout.

The clean sheet marks Jarry's first of the season in just six starts after recording only one shutout in each of the last two years, and it snapped Calgary's four-game winning streak.
