Eagles' Losing Streak Hits Five as Cowboys Pull Away in Second Half

Eagles Vs Cowboys
Williams runs wild as Cowboys crush Eagles in NFC East showdown

Philadelphia Eagles fell to 2-5 after 38-21 loss to Dallas Cowboys despite early lead, with Saquon Barkley injured again and backup QB Tanner McKee starting.

Cowboys end Philly drought with emphatic 38-21 win over Eagles...

Dak Prescott threw for 212 yards and three touchdowns as the Dallas Cowboys returned to form with a commanding 38-21 win over the depleted Philadelphia Eagles, who slumped to their fifth consecutive defeat.

After back-to-back losses to Tampa Bay and Green Bay where the offense struggled, Dallas pulled away from their NFC East rivals in the second half to improve to 3-4 on the season.

CeeDee Lamb hauled in two spectacular touchdown catches and George Pickens added another, while Dallas piled up 204 yards on the ground led by Javonte Williams, who scored once and set a career-high with 155 rushing yards.

The victory was Dallas' first in Philadelphia since 2021 and keeps them in the hunt behind NFC East leaders New York Giants at 4-2-1.

The Eagles, meanwhile, dropped their fifth game in a row as they continue to struggle without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season with blood clots.

Philadelphia's injury problems deepened as star running back Saquon Barkley, just back after missing two games with a hamstring issue, was forced off with a back injury.

It was evenly matched in the first half, with two outstanding catches from the Cowboys receivers helping Dallas respond each time Philadelphia's ground game put the hosts in front.

After Dallas opened with a 55-yard field goal, Barkley burst for a 29-yard first down, breaking a tackle while appearing to clutch at his hamstring, before sweeping wide to the pylon for an eight-yard touchdown.

Dallas answered immediately. Prescott found Lamb for a touchdown with a spinning grab in the far corner of the end zone.

In the second quarter, running back Dameon Pierce went five yards around the Cowboys defense to restore Philadelphia's lead at 14-10.

Tyler Goodson looked to have produced a moment of brilliance on the kickoff return, weaving left and right for a sensational 99-yard touchdown, but the play was nullified by a holding penalty.

Dallas still hit back before halftime, going in front when Prescott delivered a 21-yard touchdown to Pickens in the corner, with the receiver just managing to drag his toes in bounds.

After the restart, backup quarterback Tanner McKee connected with Makai Lemon for the rookie wide receiver's first NFL touchdown to briefly put the Eagles back on top.

But that was the last bright spot for Philadelphia.

Prescott threw his second touchdown to Lamb on an over-the-shoulder grab, and Dallas added the two-point conversion.

“That's a guy that gets open, I just have to give him a chance, and he's going to go make the play. And so, credit to him. He makes my job easy,” said Prescott, who completed 15-of-27 passes with no interceptions or sacks.

Williams powered into the end zone with just over two minutes left to seal the win.

Philadelphia head coach Nick Sirianni insisted he is not giving up on the Eagles' playoff chances despite the team falling to 2-5.

“We've got 10 more games, and then we'll see after that,” he said.

“No one's writing off anything. I think the division is wide open.”
