Serie A: Lazio Held 2-2 By Milan As Perfect Start Ends

Cancellieri and Noslin not enough as Lazio surrender lead to AC Milan. Pulisic assists and Moreira finishes in Milan’s dramatic 2-2 comeback.

Diego Moreira’s rapid double rescued a point for AC Milan in a 2-2 draw at league leaders Lazio. It also extended the Rossoneri’s strange record of scoring all their Serie A goals this season after half-time.  

The game opened with chances at both ends. The keeper tipped Chukwueze’s header over, before denying Noslin’s volley moments later.

Lazio took the lead in the 10th minute. Matteo Cancellieri got in behind at the far post to tap in Mattia Zaccagni’s low cross.  

Maignan kept Milan in it around the cooling break. He made a brave stop to block Zaccagni, before watching Frattesi’s effort creep agonisingly past the post.

Chukwueze was Milan’s main outlet and picked out Pavlovic with a perfect cross, but the defender headed over. Lazio then made it 2-0 in freak fashion moments later.

Pervis Estupinan inadvertently flicked Kenneth Taylor’s low ball onto his own bar. Noslin reacted fastest and nodded in as Koni De Winter’s attempted clearance came too late.

Milan had a late scare before half-time. Loftus-Cheek’s effort took a deflection off Zaccagni and whistled wide, and Gila then forced a save from the resulting corner.  

Ruben Amorim made a triple substitution at half-time and Milan started the second half brightly. Chukwueze’s shot was blocked by Oliver Provstgaard, then he whipped in a cross that Pavlovic headed straight at Christos Mandas.

The keeper got a firm hand to Pulisic’s driven effort, but had no chance a minute later as Moreira thundered in a volley from Pulisic’s looping delivery.

Moments later, Moreira struck again. He collected Rabiot’s pass and smashed it low to complete a quickfire brace and level the game.

There was still time for chances at both ends. Zaccagni’s ambitious strike was tipped away, before Cisse fired off target as the game opened up.

Moreira went close again, firing into the side netting, and Hutchinson’s late long-range shot was saved. In the end Milan took another point, extending their unbeaten start in Serie A.

The draw ends Lazio’s 100% record, yet they remain Serie A leaders heading into the next round.
