Vinicius Junior made his first public comments since reporting back for Real Madrid’s pre-season.


The Brazilian winger is in the middle of a transfer tug-of-war, with Arsenal reportedly preparing a big bid to bring him to the Premier League this summer.


Arsenal’s chase has gained momentum because Real Madrid and their star still haven’t reached an agreement on a new contract. The Gunners are also ready to table a salary for the 26-year-old that could top Madrid’s offer.




According to Spanish outlet Diario Sport, Arsenal plan to make Vinícius Jr. the Premier League’s highest-paid player, with a deal worth more than £525,000 per week.


Amid all the transfer noise, Vinícius Jr. gave a composed update from Valdebebas. He’s back training under José Mourinho at Real Madrid’s base and getting to work for the new season.


“Training has gone very well, I've met the new coach and new players and I'm training very hard,” he Real Madrid's website.


“Mourinho wants me to be as I’ve always been: happy, cheerful, and ready to play my football. 


“We have to prepare physically so that during the season we have fewer injuries and can count on everybody. It was a good session, and we all left very tired, now it’s time to rest for tomorrow. Pre-season is like this. We have to be prepared.”
