Brondby defeat Viborg 1-0 as Hyseni nets debut goal...
Olti Hyseni made an instant impact for Brondby. The former Sonderjyske midfielder, who signed on Friday, scored the winner on Sunday in a 1-0 home victory over Viborg giving Brondby their first win of the new Danish Superliga season in his debut.
Brondby controlled possession early on, but Viborg looked more dangerous going forward. The visitors had the better chances and could have gone ahead.
Viborg had the first big moments. Dorian Junior went close in the 10th minute, and ten minutes later they threatened again. Charly Nouck scuffed his shot across the box and Srdan Kuzmic was there to meet it.
Kuzmic couldn’t get a clean strike on it though, and his effort rolled straight into Patrick Pentz’s hands.
Nouck was involved in Viborg’s next chance too. He made a smart run and found Dorian Junior free in the middle, but instead of squaring it he went for goal himself. The shot didn’t trouble the Brondby keeper.
Brondby came into it late in the first half. Mads Frokjaer and Filip Bundgaard both had opportunities, but neither could get past 20-year-old Viborg goalkeeper Kasper Kiilerich.
Right before halftime, Viborg nearly took the lead. Dorian Junior showed great technique, controlling the ball with his back to goal, turning, and unleashing a shot that crashed off the woodwork.
Early in the second half the post came to Viborg’s rescue instead. Bartosz Slisz let fly from distance, the ball deflected off a Viborg defender and struck the post.
Brondby started to take control after the break and pushed Viborg back. The visitors still looked dangerous on the break, though.
Dorian Junior kept creating problems, but Patrick Pentz was equal to him. With ten minutes left the post denied the Viborg forward again. In the final stretch, Brondby boss Thomas Norgaard brought on new signing Olti Hyseni.
It was the perfect call. The substitute headed home a cross from Sho Fukuda to seal a 1-0 win for the hosts.
