The Lions bolster their defense with former Buccaneers and Raiders LB Devin White, signing the 28-year-old to a one-year deal.

The Detroit Lions added veteran linebacker Devin White on Saturday, signing him to a one-year contract.  

White, 28, appeared in all 17 games for the Las Vegas Raiders last season. He set a career high with 174 tackles, and also added 11 tackles for loss, three pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, and one interception.

White started his career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who took him fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. He spent his first five seasons in Tampa.  

As a rookie, he logged 91 tackles, three forced fumbles, three pass breakups, 2.5 sacks, and an interception plus a league-high two fumble recoveries returned for touchdowns. He followed that with three straight seasons of at least 120 tackles, including a career-best nine sacks in 2020.  

Detroit will open its regular season on September 13th against the New Orleans Saints.
