Nordsjaelland Move On Four Points As Randers Still Seek First Win

After a 6-0 win over GAIS in Europe, FC Nordsjaelland made it back-to-back victories with a last-minute 1-0 win against Randers in the Superliga.

Guinea-Bissau forward Franculino may have just scored a Goal of the Year contender for FC Midtjylland. The striker, who is linked with a record-breaking move out of Scandinavian football, helped Midtjylland stay perfect in the new Danish Superliga with a 2-1 home win over AC Horsens. The result was a boost after their disappointing Europa League exit to Besiktas.  

As expected, Midtjylland controlled the game in Herning from the start. Horsens matched them for a while, but just past the 30-minute mark, last season’s top scorer Franculino Djú showed his class with a moment of individual brilliance.

Franculino might have the Goal of the Year on his hands. The Guinea-Bissau striker, tipped to break the Scandinavian transfer record on his way out, struck in FC Midtjylland’s 2-1 win over AC Horsens that kept their perfect start to the Danish Superliga intact. It was also the perfect response after their Europa League disappointment against Besiktas.  

Midtjylland ran the show in Herning from kickoff. Horsens hung in early, but after 30 minutes Franculino Djú last season’s league top scorer - reminded everyone of his quality with a stunning solo effort.

It was a wake-up call for Midtjylland, and Horsens made them pay in the 78th minute. Jimi Tauriainen picked out Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, who finished well to pull one back and make it 2-1.  

Midtjylland should have sealed it a few minutes later. In a strange moment, Horsens keeper Matej Delac set the ball down thinking a free-kick had been given.  

Play was still live, and the ball broke to FCM’s Stanley Iheanacho. He had an open goal in front of him but somehow fluffed a huge chance.  

In the end though, Midtjylland held on and saw out a second straight win to start the season.

FC Nordsjaelland picked up where they left off after thrashing GAIS 6-0 in the Conference League on Thursday, grabbing a late win over Randers in Sunday’s other game.  

It took the full 90 minutes for Nordsjaelland to find a breakthrough at home against Randers FC and claim their first Superliga win of the season.  

Deep into stoppage time, Runar Norheim who had missed several good opportunities finally made it count. He met a cross from Tobias Salquist with a header with the last kick of the game to give the hosts a 1-0 win.  

Nordsjaelland now sit on four points from two matches, while Randers are still waiting for their first win of the campaign.
