Mudryk returns to chelsea as Alonso includes him in Hong Kong tour...

Mykhaylo Mudryk is set to fly to Hong Kong to link up with the Chelsea squad after his suspension ended, joining the team under Xabi Alonso.

Richarlison netted on the final kick of the match as Tottenham edged Chelsea 2-1 in Sydney on Saturday. It was a frustrating result for Alonso, who is still putting the finishing touches on his Blues team.

With Chelsea experimenting with their lineup and giving a number of young players minutes on the other side of the world, Alonso confirmed this week that Mudryk will rejoin the group. The FA and WADA reached a settlement that brought his suspension to an end.

Mudryk tested positive for meldonium also known as Mildronate in late 2024 and was handed a provisional ban. He hasn’t featured in a competitive game since November 2024, but Fabrizio Romano reported Sunday morning that Alonso has included him in the preseason squad.

“Mykhaylo Mudryk, flying today to Hong Kong to join Chelsea squad and make himself available for Xabi Alonso with immediate effect.”

The Ukraine winger joined Chelsea from Shakhtar Donetsk for £89M in January 2023, and could end up being a surprise option for Alonso with a chance to impress ahead of the new season.

For now though, he’s expected to start out on the fringes of the squad as he works to get his fitness back.
