The Buffalo Bills put out a statement on Monday responding to fan complaints about blocked sightlines at the new Highmark Stadium.
More than 51,000 fans showed up for the team’s first open practice at the venue on Saturday. But the event drew heavy criticism over obstructed views, scoreboards that looked small compared to other new NFL stadiums, and the stadium canopy failing to cover about 65% of seats from the rain – despite original plans promising better protection that day.
“Thank you to Bills Mafia for setting a new attendance record with more than 50,000 fans at the Return of the Blue & Red. Saturday's practice was a great opportunity to test the new stadium. We are currently addressing internal and external feedback regarding the facility's operation following the first event. We'll utilize the next six weeks to refine any details as we prepare for the home opener on Thursday, September 17.”

Bills fans spent the weekend online sharing photos of blocked sightlines throughout the new stadium. The team responded by noting that some of the views posted weren’t from football seats – they’re designated for concerts and other events and won’t be sold during games.
The pushback from Bills fans hasn’t ended with the stadium issues.
Even before fans got their first look at Highmark Stadium in person, the team faced backlash online. That came after Buffalo unveiled its all-grey 'Nickel City' alternate uniforms — the same ones the players wore during Saturday’s public practice.
Buffalo’s first preseason action at the new stadium comes August 15th against the Carolina Panthers. They’ll be back again on August 27th to host the Pittsburgh Steelers before the regular season kicks off.
