Falcons make Robinson highest-paid RB in NFL history...

Bijan Robinson made history on Tuesday, becoming the NFL’s highest-paid running back after agreeing to a three-year, $75 million extension with the Atlanta Falcons.

The All-Pro will get a league-record $51 million guaranteed and a $22.25 million average annual base salary, topping the previous mark set by Philadelphia’s Saquon Barkley at $20.5 million per year.

The deal also comes with a $27 million signing bonus.

Robinson’s deal marks the fourth big extension for Atlanta this offseason. The Falcons have also locked up wide receiver Drake London for four years and $141.05 million, tight end Kyle Pitts for three years and $54 million, and guard Matthew Bergeron for four years and $96 million.

Atlanta took Robinson 8th overall in the 2023 draft. Last season he led the league in total scrimmage yards with 2,298, ranking 4th among running backs in rushing with 1,478 yards and 2nd in receiving with 820 yards.

“There's no shortage in what he can do for the football team on the field,” said head coach Kevin Stefanski. “But, also, the person that he is off the field and what he brings to our locker room and to the question earlier about culture and being a player-driven culture, he's a driver of that just because of how he attacks each day.”

Robinson is coming off consecutive seasons with at least 1,400 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns. He posted a career-high 14 rushing scores in 2024, after recording 7 in 2023. Now the Falcons have secured their All-Pro running back, setting a new benchmark for the position as attention shifts to what the Detroit Lions will offer their own star back, Jahmyr Gibbs.
