After posting 36 catches for 528 yards in 2024, 49ers WR Ricky Pearsall will miss the entire 2026 season following PCL surgery.

San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall is set to undergo season-ending knee surgery to repair a lingering PCL injury suffered last year, GM John Lynch announced.

After an injury-free college career, Pearsall has already missed 14 games with San Francisco, six after being shot in the chest as a rookie, and eight last season while dealing with the PCL issue.

It will mark the first time in his career that the third-year wideout misses an entire season.  

Pearsall set career bests last year with 36 catches for 528 yards in nine games for San Francisco. That came one year after his rookie campaign where he finished with 31 receptions for 400 yards and 3 touchdowns.  

The timing comes right after the 49ers re-signed veteran receiver Deebo Samuel to a one-year, $7 million deal. Samuel spent 2025 with the Washington Commanders following six seasons with San Francisco.

The 49ers open their regular season on September 10th with a primetime matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
