Just days after losing the T20 World Cup final to Australia, England were beaten by 270 runs by India in the first women's Test at Lord's.

India recorded a dominant 270-run victory over England to take the first women's Test at Lord's on Monday.

Chasing a record target of 457 to win, England were bowled out for 186 just before lunch on day four. Off-spinner Sneh Rana took 4-42 and sealed the historic win by dismissing Sophie Ecclestone for 50.

India controlled every part of this four-day match, which was only the 150th Test at Lord's since the ground hosted its first men's Test 142 years ago.

 

The win allowed India to leave their tour with good memories of Lord's, after they were eliminated in the T20 World Cup group stage at the 'Home of Cricket' by eventual winners Australia.

England, meanwhile, found it hard to adjust to Test cricket. The match began only days after their T20 World Cup final defeat to Australia on July 5th.

 

It was also a standout game for India’s Kranti Gaud and Yastika Bhatia, who became the first women to claim a five-wicket haul and score a century in a women's Test at Lord's.

 

Gaud starred with 5-37 as England were bowled out for 170 in the first innings, while wicket-keeper Bhatia made 113 to anchor India’s 341-7 declared in the second innings.
