Serie A: Napoli Held by Como as Scudetto Hopes Fade Further

Napoli Vs Como
Como shut out Napoli to keep Champions League push alive

Napoli were held 0-0 at Como May 2, 2026, as Matteo Politano hit the post late and Antonio Conte’s side failed to close the gap on Inter in the Serie A title race.

Napoli’s title defense took another hit after a 0-0 draw at Como, leaving their Scudetto hopes hanging by a thread with the weekend’s results still to come.

Starting 10 points behind Inter Milan, Antonio Conte’s side shifted focus to securing second place amid growing speculation about the manager’s future.

Napoli spent much of the first half under pressure as Como created several good openings. Nico Paz orchestrated the attack and played in Anastasios Douvikas, who rounded Vanja Milinković-Savić but saw his shot cleared off the line by Amir Rrahmani.

Paz then found Assane Diao in behind, but Milinković-Savić reacted quickly to smother the low effort and keep it goalless at the break.

Only Roma, with nine, have kept more Serie A clean sheets than Como’s eight this season. Based on Napoli’s quiet first-half display, the Lariani looked set to match that record with 45 minutes still to play.

The opening 15 minutes of the second half offered little change, and Napoli relied on Milinković-Savić again to tip away Martin Baturina’s deflected effort.

Napoli’s best chance came late when Scott McTominay took a touch to control as he ran in behind, but his shot from a tight angle at the near post missed the target.

That miss jolted Napoli into action, and Matteo Politano curled a shot onto the post five minutes from time. It was the closest either side came to a winner in a flat contest that ended goalless.

Como are still winless against the top three this season with three draws and three defeats, but sit five points off them and just two behind Juventus in the Champions League spots, though they’ve played one game more.

Napoli’s away form against top-half sides continues to undermine their campaign. They’ve taken 12 points from 30 possible in 10 away games against teams starting the round in the top 13, with three draws and six losses, showing why they’ve fallen behind Inter.
