Gamba Osaka edged Al Nassr 1-0 to win the Asian Champions League Two final in Riyadh on Saturday, delivering another setback for Cristiano Ronaldo and the Saudi Pro League leaders in Asia’s second-tier competition.
Deniz Hummet’s 30th-minute goal gave the J-League side their second continental title, 18 years after they first won the Asian Champions League.
The defeat means Ronaldo is still without a major trophy since joining Al Nassr in 2023 following his mutual contract termination with Manchester United. His team do sit two points clear at the top of the SPL with one match left to play.
Al Nassr controlled much of the game at King Saud University Stadium but couldn’t break through against Gamba’s 18-year-old keeper Rui Araki.
Araki tipped Abdulrahman Ghareeb’s 7th-minute effort around the post, and Sadio Mané hit the side-netting 16 minutes later as Al Nassr started strongly.

The Japanese side took the lead on the half-hour mark when Hummet turned just outside the box and fired Issam Jebali’s through ball into the bottom corner past Bento.
Ghareeb came close to equalizing three minutes before half-time, and Ronaldo headed wide in stoppage time as Jorge Jesus’ side pushed for a leveller.
Al Nassr’s frustration grew when João Félix struck the post from distance in the 77th minute, finally beating Araki but not the woodwork.
With six minutes left, Gamba defender Takeru Kishimoto made a crucial sliding block to deny Félix after Ronaldo’s backheel near the edge of the box had played him through.
